Oral Hygiene at Work | Greg DiGiovanni DDS

Do you find it difficult to brush your teeth after lunch at work? You’re not alone. But just because you can’t brush, doesn’t mean you can’t protect your teeth.

Here are some simple tips to keep your smile healthy at work:

  1. Drink Water:
After eating, swish water around in your mouth, then spit or swallow. Water helps remove food particles that can linger on your teeth.
  2. Chew Sugarless Gum:
Choose sugarless gum approved by the American Dental Association (ADA). Chewing stimulates saliva production, which washes away food particles and neutralizes acids on your teeth.
  3. Limit Sugary Drinks:
Coffee, soda, and tea contain sugars and acids that can harm your teeth. Instead of sipping slowly, drink quickly to minimize exposure. Rinse your mouth or switch to water afterward.
  4. Stick to Your Oral Hygiene Routine:
Maintain good oral hygiene habits at home. Brush at least twice a day for two minutes each time, and floss daily. Don’t skip your regular dental cleanings and check-ups.

Taking care of your teeth doesn’t have to disrupt your workday. Remembering these simple tips can protect your mouth from tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues.
